I would like to warmly welcome you to the Maridahdi Kindergarten and Primary School, where we nurture the curiosity of each individual child to cultivate their confidence within and outside of our community.

Maridahdi prides itself on rethinking the way children are engaged in their education journey.  Children are placed at the centre of their learning experience in a way that creatively incorporates the development of their ability to critically reflect, self-organise, exercise agency and understand accountability.  Education becomes a collaborative approach between the child, the educator and the family, where communication and curiosity is key.  Our approach prioritises the well-being of the child, with a central focus on understanding and navigating emotion, to support the child to access and drive learning opportunities. 

Maridahdi delivers the Australian Curriculum through a rich, engaging, differentiated approach that considers the developmental readiness, personal interests, and unique creative expression of each individual child.  Driven by their wonder and curiosity, Maridahdi children are invited to take the time to question deeply, connect thoughts and ideas, explore ways to express their thinking and develop a strong understanding of who they are as a learner.

Maridahdi believes that an early focus on ‘understanding of self’ supports children to prepare to navigate life beyond the school grounds. It is through mimicking life that children develop the skills to self-organise and exercise agency within a community.  Maridahdi is a vibrant and dynamic learning community, where no two days look the same.

Our History

The name ‘Maridahdi’ is a Swahili word, meaning to embellish, to enhance.

Maridahdi began as a Community Kindergarten in 1976. The introduction of Prep in 2006 led to the community requesting the kindergarten work towards establishing a school which keeps children at the center of all decisions made. In 2006 our school, the Maridahdi Early Childhood Community School, was established.

Our school caters to students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and was renamed in 2024 to the Maridahdi Kindergarten and Primary School.
